Although it is not the same as sketching on location I find amusing the idea of the virtual paintouts. I am trying a new set of Yarka watercolors, so the virtual location was better than nothing. I first washed in w/c and then sketched over it with the bleeding Papermate flair. Then retouched a bit with the waterbrush. I really like the results I get doing the line drawing after the color; I’ll be trying that next time out.

This technique works for me (looking at it as a disinterested third observer!); and your intimation is right: being on the actual location allows for a better drawing experience…even tho’ I don’t do it very much myself(!). I learn from folks like you who do.

Nice energy! I like how you didn’t paint in all the buildings and left white space….Kill more time Luis

I think it must be Wellington with the trolley buses. Am I right?

I guess… according to Google maps it is in Cook Strait, but searching for Wellington trolley buses resulted in very similar images.

Wellington is on Cook Strait. I lived there a long time ago. I don’t remember the buses being yellow, but it IS a long time ago.
